British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest
The Pacific Northwest is considered by many as one of the most beautiful parts of the world. The coast is a rugged, evergreen rain-forest that teems with wildlife, mountains, streams, and plants, offering countless opportunities for an artist.

Somewhat lesser known to non-residents are the mid-provincial deserts, Okanagan orchards, and the many smaller Gulf Islands of Canada's western province. Click on the title to see our BC gallery.

Highlighted here are works inspired from the Pacific Coast Highway, with its breathtaking vistas, crashing waves and colourful hillsides. At times you may also see scenes such as skylines, missions, piers, or other attractions.

But the star of the show is the highway itself and all the sights it offers, which is actually comprised of two routes -- Highways 1 and 101 -- that hand-off to each other at certain points along the way. From the sandy beaches of Malibu and Carmel, to the steep cliffs and unabating waves of Northern California, one can easily see what originally made California famous.

The Oregon coast deserves equal aclaim. With almost non-stop beaches along the entire coastline of the state, we had notable stops in Newport and Cannon Beach, amongst others, though inland routes such as that through Klamath Falls are also beautiful.

While most of the highway drive occurs over these two states, Washington offers stunning views in Seattle and the San Juan Islands, the Cascades, and many other beautiful locales.

The sunshine, azul water and pure, white sand beaches of Mexico are well known, but the colours of its scenery are also spectacular. Catherine's works of the Cabo san Lucas area capture all of these qualities. Click on the title link to see the gallery.

The sunsets of the southwest are possibly the most beautiful in the world. From the purple-tinted rocks of the Grand Canyon and the red rocks of Sedona, to the frosty-green of cholla cactus in the mid-sonoran desert, Arizona offers stunning colours which non-desert dwellers might not expect. See if you can notice the different quality of light in the paintings that are typical of the bright desert sky.

Many of Catherine's favorite subjects are the creatures and creations of the world. This part of the gallery changes often.

A few years ago while working on different styles of greeting cards, Catherine experimented with Microsoft® Paint. The results were incredible. While some were created with a fun, irreverant style, others required significant time and care. This is a favourite part of our gallery!
